A warm yet ironic look at the situation of women. These two stories by Dacia Maraini highlight the problems of two women. In the first story "Mio Marito" we meet a woman who lives in the shadow of her husband. The woman loves and admires her husband, but underneath it all, he has a bad temper and treats her with a cruel and cynical attitude. But she does not rebel, she accepts and justifies everything.
In the second story "L'altra Famiglia" we meet a modern and independent woman who lives a double life: She has two families. Although life in the two families is very different, it's always her job to take responsibility and care for the children.

I love the Easy Reader series and this book does not disappoint. I am starting at A2 level and these stories are engaging and amusing whilst being easy enough to follow yet complicated enough to challenge.
